In plain English
Our website stores only the essentials, plus a referral code if you arrive through one of our partners' links. It does not set advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. It uses your browser storage to remember your cookie choice, your quote basket and your progress through the Get Started form. Choosing Accept or Decline makes no difference to what the site does, because there is nothing optional to switch on. You can reset your choice below.
This summary is a guide only. The full policy below is what applies.
1What cookies and similar technologies are
- 1.1
Cookies are small text files that a website can save on your device. Websites can also save information in your browser using “local storage” and “session storage”, which work in a similar way. In this policy we call all of these “cookies and similar technologies”.
- 1.2
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), websites can store things that are strictly necessary, or that you have asked for, without consent. Anything else needs your consent first.
2What our website stores
- 2.1
Our own pages do not set any cookies. They use the following items of browser storage, all of which are essential or requested by you:
- crello-cookies. Held in local storage. It records whether you pressed Accept or Decline on the cookie banner, so we do not ask you again on every page. It stays until you clear your site data or reset your choice below.
- crello-quote. Held in local storage. It keeps the items you add to your quote basket, so they are still there if you move between pages or come back later. It stays until you remove the items, send your quote or clear your site data.
- crello-quote-v1. Held in session storage. It saves your progress through the Get Started form while you are filling it in, so you do not lose your answers if you move to another page. It is removed when the form is sent or when you close the browser tab.
- pt. Held in session storage. A temporary marker that lets the page transition animation play between pages. It is removed straight away and in any case when you close the tab.
- crello-ref. Held in local storage, and only if you arrive through a link or code from one of our referral partners. It records that partner’s code and when you arrived, so that we can credit the partner who introduced you if you later send us an enquiry. It is removed after 90 days or when you clear your site data. It is not created if you pressed Decline on the cookie banner.
- 2.2
None of these items contain your name or contact details unless you type them into a form that is still in progress, and none of them are sent to advertisers or used to track you across other websites. The referral code stored in crello-ref is not linked to your name unless you send us an enquiry.
- 2.3
We do not use analytics, advertising, social media tracking or profiling cookies.
3Your cookie choice
- 3.1
When you first visit, a banner offers Accept and Decline. Almost everything we store is essential, so both buttons lead to the same result: your choice is remembered, and the site works in the same way either way. The one exception is the referral code in clause 2.1. If you press Decline, we do not save it.
- 3.2
We record your choice only so that we do not show the banner again. We do not use it to track you.
4How to change your choice
- 4.1
You can reset your choice at any time with the button below. It removes the saved choice from your browser and reloads the page, and the banner will appear again.
- 4.2
You can also delete all stored items for crello.co.uk in your browser settings (look for “site data”, “cookies and site data” or “storage”), or set your browser to block cookies and site data. If you do, the site will still work, but your quote basket and form progress will not be remembered.
5Third parties and what they may do
- 5.1
Some third party services are involved when you use our website. We do not add their cookies to our pages, but you should know about them:
- Cloudflare. Our website is delivered through Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, and may use strictly necessary security measures for that purpose.
- Formspree. When you send one of our forms, the details you typed are sent to Formspree, which passes them on to us. Formspree does not place a cookie on our pages. Your enquiry is also sent to our own lead system, which runs on Cloudflare.
- Google Fonts. Our pages load their typefaces from Google. This means your browser contacts Google servers, which receive your IP address and browser details. We do not use Google Fonts for tracking.
- WhatsApp, social media and external websites. The WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn icons and the links to client and partner websites are ordinary links. Nothing is loaded from those services until you click, and once you do, their own cookie and privacy policies apply.
- Client Portal. The portal at portal.crello.co.uk is a separate service. It uses only what it needs to keep you signed in securely, and it records the device, approximate place and network address of each sign in for security, as explained in our Privacy Policy. The visitor counts we give to clients about their own websites do not use cookies.
6Changes to this policy
- 6.1
If we start to use any cookies or similar technologies that are not strictly necessary, such as analytics, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before they are switched on. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated.
